Project Description

Renaissance were pleased to be involved in the design of these affordable houses, as the challenge was to reach an A2 Energy rating.

The insulation values, set by the BER report, ensured minimum heat loss.

The design also called for solar PV panels and the latest 280w panels were selected. These meet all fire regulations and are integrated into the roof line. Typically, they supply 1,5kW, which more that adequately covers the base load of the dwelling. Renaissance recommended the installation of charge back electricity meters to allow the occupiers to be recommenced for the excess power that they supply to the national grid, when the tariff is set by the government.

Renaissance also designed that both EIR and Virgin Media would install services to each dwelling, to allow the occupier to select their preferred comm.s, media and broadband.

Some houses have been designed with Air Source Heat Pumps for their heating, as their roofs are oriented to the North and they would not have generated sufficient power to
